You proved the value, finance is backing the growth: bringing Story copilot into the AI credit framework

In February, when we first introduced Story copilot, we made a very specific request to the Tines community: "Use it so much that you make our finance team question ever approving the idea."

It was a bold move, but our finance team was fully on board. They both approved and championed the approach. They wanted to see exactly how much value we could unlock for our customers.

They didn't look at the resulting bill and ask us to slow down. Instead, they looked at the massive ROI you were creating and asked a better question: “How do we build the permanent infrastructure to back this growth for the long term?”

And so, while our finance team isn't actually regretting the decision, they have been busy. Very busy working with us to build a sustainable, long-term framework to support the massive adoption you’ve achieved.

And, how about that adoption? The numbers behind the momentum. 

Story copilot → AI credits 

Story copilot is central to the Tines experience, which is why it remains available to every customer on every plan. Following the unprecedented adoption we’ve seen during our pilot, our finance team recognized a unique opportunity: to remain exceptionally generous while establishing the sustainable foundation required to support your growth at scale. 

As a result, Story copilot will transition into our monthly AI credit framework on May 1, 2026. However, to ensure your momentum remains uninterrupted, we are significantly increasing your credit capacity, providing the permanent 'fuel' your innovation requires. 

We’re increasing your available monthly credits.  

Credits are consumed by the AI agent action, Workbench, and now Story copilot. We’ve heard from customers that they are nervous to leverage any of the credit-based features on seemingly trivial operations (a necessary evil of any important workflow), so we want to give you confidence that you’re set up for success. 


For details on your specific increase, the amount is updated in your Tenant Settings. As a reminder, this only applies to Tines-hosted models.

25% minimum increase in AI credits across the board.

We monitored consumption, without deducting from any accounts, across features during that period and only 25% of customers came close to their credit limits without this increase. We’re adding 25% minimum across the board, in addition to what exists today and, with the “top up credits” feature as backup, you gain the confidence your most important workflows are always running.

Getting ready for May 1, 2026 

There are three features available to help you with your AI consumption across Stories and teams. 

  • Notifications: consistent with our existing notifications, email alerts are sent to tenant owners and team admins at 80% and 100% usage for proactive capacity management. Learn more here

  • Credit distribution: you can provide credits to your teams to ensure they are reserved for use by AI Agent actions in those teams. This ensures your mission-critical workflows always have the fuel they need.

  • Top up credits: this is a set amount you approve Tines to spend in the unlikely event you consume all your credits. You can learn more here. 

Benchmarking your usage 

What does "normal" look like? While every tenant is different, here is what we’re seeing across the community on a monthly basis:

We did have a few tenants with more than 5 builders consuming as much as 27000 credits. While not the ‘typical’ behavior, it’s a helpful indicator of credit consumption usage to the number of active builders in your tenant. 

Best practice: prioritize your agents 

As you look at your credit distribution, our #1 recommendation is to protect your agentic workflows first.

While Story copilot helps you build faster, your AI Agent actions are the ones executing triage, enrichment, and remediation in real-time.
